How to Stay Motivated in 2021

In the strange era that we are living out, the path ahead is very unclear. Our politicians are debating weather we deserve to eat or not, and we are focused on how we will eat next. That might not be your experience right now, but for me anyways and many of the people I know, this is exactly how I am living. As a college dropout that was forced to stop school because of the cost of living while going to school was too expensive, I am struggling to decide between a full belly or safety from the pandemic raging outside my door. While other governments were paying their people to stay inside, ours were busy shielding the truth from us so that they could sell their stocks.

As you can probably tell, this is a very opinionated article I’m writing here. I am not writing this because I have a passion for writing or sharing my ideas, but I’m writing this because I feel like I need to. I feel the tension and suffering of this nation and need to express that there are better ways to do things. Here is where my quest ends abruptly. What am I going to do about it? How do I help? How can I truly be productive in this day and age?

“ But every little difference may become a big one if it is insisted on. ”

- Lenin, One Step Forward, Two Steps Back, “Paragraph One of the Rules” (1904)

1. Just do your best.

This is simple when you think about it. All you can do is your best! Why would you beat yourself up for failing an unrealistic expectation? Just try your best in everything you do, and be proud of what you’ve done!

2. Help your friends!

Things can get very dull and sad when you’re focused on yourself all the time. Offer your friends help with something they love to do, or something they’re working on! I bet you that they’ll appreciate anything you can contribute greatly!

3. Don’t stagnate!

Stagnation is the opposite of productivity. Keep changing and accepting obstacles and roadblocks as challenges that will help you become a better version of yourself! Keep changing and questioning and life will never grow dull!
